he device and principle of operation of the pump

The centrifugal type liquid pump is extremely simple. It is based on a cast housing in which the so-called impeller rotates on the shaft – an impeller with blades of a special shape. The shaft is mounted on a large-width bearing, which eliminates shaft vibrations during fast rotation. The pump is mounted on the front of the engine and is often integral with the block. The impeller rotates in a cavity with two openings: an inlet located above the center of the wheel, and an outlet located on the side.
The operation of a centrifugal pump is reduced to the following: the liquid is supplied to the central part of the impeller and rapidly rotating blades (under the action of centrifugal force) are thrown to the walls of the container, acquiring significant speed. Due to this, the liquid leaves the pump under some pressure and enters the engine water jacket.
Despite its simplicity, the fluid pump plays an important role in the cooling system, and its failure makes normal operation of the vehicle impossible. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the maintenance of the entire cooling system, and if the pump fails, immediately repair it or replace it with a new one.
